leather love

Suzaan Heyns commissioned us to design a small coffee table for her Melville shop. This bent-metal and leather baby includes a leather pouch for magazines, and hand-stitched detailing finishes it off.

She has the only one for now, so visit the shop for a look. This was a real labour of love and we will take orders, but one thing is for sure, it wont be ready overnight.

lollipops on the rocks

SOMETHING SWEET

The Lollipop lamp is available in various colours with a movable shade. Change the fabric in the shade whenever you like. Also available as a custom wall-mounted version. Currently on show at CO-OP and 113 Long street.

SOMETHING HEAVY

Rock tables come in various sizes and heights. The glass top swivels and is great for indoor or outdoor use. The rocks are from the Magaliesburg region, once the bed of a massive inland lake. They’re on shop at CO-OP.

its going to be a Braamfontein weekend

The Neighbourgoods Market is opening this Saturday. Shouldn’t be missed and will run every week come rain or shine 9am - 3pm. Its the perfect excuse to visit the showroom at CO-OP and then head across the road for a day at the market. The building directly opposite the Milner hotel marks the spot.

Also opening on Saturday Outlet Project room will be hosting Givan Lötz in his first solo showing, comprising four large-scale printed works and a sculptural installation piece.

In The Special Danger Givan Lötz draws attention to conflated notions of Death, Sex, and Spirituality. Owing to a philosophical reading of the Ecstatic Experience, Lötz measures the ethics of Eroticism up against the aesthetics of Prohibition, suggesting a form of reasoning without boundaries. From Lötz’s perspective, without Prohibition there can be no transgression and therefore no Eroticism.

DAM at Bushfire

We’re off to Swaziland this weekend for the Bushfire festival!

Darkest Afrika is a collaborative partnership between Swaziland’s House on Fire and South Africa’s Dokter and Misses.

Each studio designed sculptural lights carved from Swazi Soapstone with additional mild steel detailing. The project combines-hand craftsmanship together with industrial production methods. The result: pieces that showcase each studio’s distinctive aesthetic.

More about this project to come.
